Dashboard Overview

Learn your way around the OpenInvoice dashboard

The OpenInvoice dashboard is organized into several main sections:

Dashboard

The Overview page provides a high-level view of your business:

  • Key Metrics - Total revenue, outstanding invoices, paid invoices
  • Revenue Charts - Visual representation of your income over time
  • Invoice Status Distribution - Pie chart showing invoice statuses
  • Sales Performance - Bar charts and trends

Invoicing

The invoicing section includes:

  • Invoices - View, create, and manage all invoices
  • Recurring Invoices - Set up and manage recurring invoice templates
  • Customers - Manage your customer database
  • Products - Maintain your product/service catalog

Kanban

Visual invoice workflow management:

  • Drag and drop invoices between status columns
  • Quick status updates
  • Visual overview of your invoice pipeline

Reports

Advanced reporting features:

  • Custom Reports - Build custom reports
  • Customer Lifetime Value - Analyze customer value
  • Forecasting - Financial forecasting tools

Settings

Configure your account and workspace:

  • General Settings - Account preferences

Key Interface Elements

Command Palette

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) to open the command palette. This allows you to:

  • Quickly navigate to any page
  • Search for invoices, customers, or products
  • Perform common actions

Workspace Switcher

Located in the top navigation bar, allows you to:

  • Switch between workspaces
  • Create new workspaces
  • Manage workspace settings

User Menu

Access your profile, settings, and sign out from the user menu in the top right.

Keyboard Shortcuts

OpenInvoice includes keyboard shortcuts for common actions:

  • d + d - Go to Dashboard
  • i + i - Go to Invoices
  • r + r - Go to Recurring Invoices
  • c + c - Go to Customers
  • p + p - Go to Products
  • Cmd/Ctrl + K - Open command palette

Invoice Details Page

When viewing an invoice, you'll see a left sidebar with sections:

  • Details - Invoice information and line items
  • Payments - Payment history and add payments
  • Emails - Email history and send invoice
  • Notes - Internal notes and comments
  • Reminders - Payment reminder history

Best Practices

  1. Organize with Workspaces - Use separate workspaces for different businesses or clients
  2. Use the Product Catalog - Save time by adding products to your catalog
  3. Set Up Recurring Invoices - Automate regular billing
  4. Configure Branding - Make your invoices professional with custom branding
  5. Track Payments - Record all payments to keep accurate financial records
